About BOP: Billion Oyster Project is an ecosystem restoration and education initiative that aims to restore a sustainable oyster population to New York Harbor and reconnect New Yorkers with their local marine environment by actively involving them in the hands on science of restoration. About the Role: The Partnerships Coordinator will work primarily on managing the day to day operations of BOP’s Shell Collection Program as well as the recruitment and management of partners for the Billion Oyster Party, BOP’s annual fundraiser. About the Candidate: The ideal candidate should have experience in F&B account management, event production and fundraising and an interest in restoration, the environment, education and hospitality. Experience in running a waste reduction or upcycling program is also highly preferred. This role requires an unabashed problem solver, a confident multi-tasker, a personable conversationalist, experience in creating event documentation and managing event executions -- from dealing with vendors and entertainment to fearlessly brainstorming with the team to develop an unforgettable experience. The selected candidate will gain experience in working with a growing, fast paced non-profit and gain hands-on account management, event management and production experience. The candidate will report to the Director of Strategic Projects,​ ​as​ ​well​ ​as​ ​work​ ​with​ ​other​ ​administrative,​ ​program,​ ​and​ ​executive​ ​staff. Undergraduate degree and/or Masters in food or hospitality related field preferred About the Billion Oyster Project Shell Collection Program: The Billion Oyster Project Shell Collection Program is a cornerstone of the broader Billion Oyster Project (“BOP”), an ecosystem restoration and education project that aims to restore a sustainable oyster population and reignite a passion and appreciation for New York Harbor by directly engaging New Yorkers in the work of restoring one billion oysters. The BOP Shell Collection Program, operated by The Lobster Place, does its part within this restoration and education effort by supplying BOP with oyster shells generated by and collected from many restaurant and event partners in New York City. The Shell Collection Program is also active in finding new ways to engage​ ​New​ ​Yorkers​ ​in​ ​restoration​ ​through​ ​the​ ​dining​ ​experience. About the Billion Oyster Party: The Billion Oyster Party is the ultimate oyster experience where 900+ guests interact with farmers and chefs while enjoying live music, unlimited oysters from 40 oyster farms, and delicious bites from top NYC restaurants. Students from NY Harbor School and program partners are also present to inform guests about the restoration efforts of the Billion Oyster Project. The Billion Oyster Party was recently named Village Voice’s 2016 Best Fundraiser for the​ ​Environment.

Essential Functions

Shell Collection Program Roles and responsibilities: Track SCP Progress on a weekly basis to ensure restaurants are operating efficiently and determine how to motivate and/or work with all partners to ensure the program is working at its best Send​ ​a​ ​monthly​ ​newsletter​ ​to​ ​restaurant​ ​partners - Communicate through email with restaurants about the progress of BOP and their individual shell collection progress. Maintain and build strong relationships with BOP’s 70 restaurant accounts through regular calls, meetings, and emails Develop yearly education tools for restaurants to accompany their yearly briefing Plan and Support fundraising initiatives with restaurant partners Work with restaurants to determine the best way for each to give Track donations from restaurant partners Work with Communications Manager to ensure all restaurants have BOP​ ​collateral​ ​to​ ​give​ ​away​ ​to​ ​interested​ ​diners Work with partners to increase their participation in BOP. Track and approve related program invoices Support execution of all restaurant partner events Conduct everyday troubleshooting with The Lobster Place Support, schedule, and manage SCP partner events with a minimum of 10 oyster socials per year used for different purposes such as to launch partner beer, for donor cultivation, for boparty sponsor engagement. Oversee and manage shell collection at third party oyster events i.e. oyster week events Support in the creation of bi-annual reports on the program The SCP requires an NYSDEC Beneficial Use Determination (BUD). Procure, report on, and renew all BUDs required for the storage of shell. From time to time, the Restoration Team will need to procure shell material from sources outside of BOP's New York City SCP. This is expected when the current supply falls short of demand. This task may include the development of relationships with regional seafood industry suppliers, managing regulatory requirements for the importation of shells, locating and arranging for permission to use local spaces required for curing shell and managing the relationship with property owners (similar to BOP's use of space at NRG). Billion Oyster Party Roles and responsibilities · Recruit, liaise and manage partnerships with all Oyster Farm and Restaurant partners ​that​ ​participate​ ​in​ ​the​ ​event · Manage silent and live auction aspects of the event · Manage ​website​ ​to​ ​reflect​ ​up​ ​to​ ​date​ ​information · Manage​ ​a​ ​team​ ​of​ ​volunteers​ ​and​ ​BOP​ ​staff​ ​the​ ​day​ ​of​ ​the​ ​event · Coordinate​ ​all​ ​volunteers​ ​and​ ​staff​ ​jobs​ ​at​ ​the​ ​Billion​ ​Oyster​ ​Party · Support development team in executing membership program · Plan and curate social media posts for the Billion Oyster Party · Write all marketing emails for the BOParty · Create event signage for the party · Assist with fundraising efforts- researching funding sources, confirming​ ​silent​ ​auction​ ​items,​ ​setting​ ​up​ ​the​ ​silent​ ​auction · Assist in managing all event documentation, from budgets, receipts, contracts,​ ​contact​ ​lists,​ ​guest​ ​lists,​ ​etc · Special projects as they develop, based on interest areas and organization​ ​needs · This position will also assist in Billion Oyster Project’s other annual events on an ad hoc basis

Qualifications

1-2 years of event planning and production experience Willingness to take on both small and large tasks - both at a computer and in the field Proficient in the Adobe Creative Suite Substantial understanding of operating a waste reduction/upcycling program Excellent marketing and communication skills Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions Ability to make decisions that improve day-to-day procedures, practices and efficiency. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to put partners at ease Degree in Food or hospitality is a plus
